The End of PlotWave Toner Confusion
The End of PlotWave Toner Confusion:
Everything You Need to Know About the New Canon Universal Toner
Date: January 2026 Posted By: Aresco Inc. Technical Team
If you operate a Canon or Océ PlotWave system, you’ve likely noticed something different lately. The specific toner part numbers you’ve been ordering for years—like the ones for the PlotWave 300, 350, or 450—are becoming harder to find.
The good news? You aren’t running out of options. Canon has officially simplified its wide-format supplies by introducing the Universal PlotWave Toner (SKU 6696C001AA).
Why the Change?
In the past, the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) produced distinct toner SKUs for different machines in the PlotWave family. While the bottles looked slightly different or had different labels, the high-quality toner inside was essentially the same formulation.
To streamline inventory and make life easier for fleet managers, Canon has consolidated these into one Universal Toner that is certified to work in every PlotWave model, from the legacy Océ systems to the newest Canon machines.
What Machines Does it Fit?
One of the biggest questions we get at Aresco is, "Will this work in my specific machine?" The answer is a resounding yes. The new Universal Toner (6696C001AA) is the official replacement for:
-
PlotWave 300 / 340 / 350 / 360
-
PlotWave 345 / 365
-
PlotWave 450 / 550
-
PlotWave 3000 / 3500
-
PlotWave 5000 / 5500
-
PlotWave 750
The "Obsolete" Part Numbers to Watch Out For
If you have these part numbers saved in your procurement system, it’s time to update your records to 6696C001AA:
-
1060047449 -
1070012984 -
1060091356
